Denza, a joint venture between BYD and Daimler AG, officially launched its high-end D9 MPV on August 24, available in EV and DM-i versions and starting from 329,800 yuan ($48,133). At the same time, the brand announced that a new concept car will be unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show on August 26.

According to an official promotional video, this concept car is a medium-sized SUV, with long and narrow headlights on both sides of the front, which are connected by a full-width LED strip. The rear of the car is simply shaped, and it is also equipped with full-width light bar. There are “C”-shaped designs on both sides of the lights, which have segmented lighting effects and high recognition.

According to previously leaked information, this will be the second car code-named “UXE” to be launched by Denza after BYD took over. The new car is expected to be mass-produced in November, and its CTB battery pack capacity will be nearly 95KWh.

According to the patent picture, Denza’s new SUV provides two sets of designs, including hybrid and pure electric models.

The hybrid version adopts a frameless front face design, which has a high degree of recognition after the daytime running lights of the front face are lit, and large-sized air guide grooves are also equipped on both sides of the front of the car. The pure electric version uses a sealed front face design, and the rest is consistent with the hybrid version. The side of Denza’s new SUV is very simple, adopting a round shape.

However, according to the information previously disclosed by Li Changjiang, the general manager of Denza Sales Division, the new car is positioned in the five-seat version and adopts the latest electric platform. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and the cruising range exceeds 700 km.

Chinese automobile manufacturer BYD has recently increased its foreign investment. The new invested enterprise is named Denza Automobile Sales and Service Co., Ltd., with an investment ratio of 100%.

On Thursday, the first covert photos of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) made by Denza, a joint venture established by BYD and Daimler AG, were leaked.

Shenzhen-based automaker BYD disclosed records of its recent investor relations activities on August 1. Regarding the latest MPV model, the Denza D9, BYD said that the official sales will begin in mid-August.

Denza, a joint venture established by BYD and Daimler AG, officially launched the D9 MPV model on the evening of August 23.
