HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A project to install a shared-use pathway along northbound Dobbin Road between Oakland Mills Road and Snowden River Parkway in Columbia this fall will require temporary lane closures. The first phase of the project should begin Sept. 5 and, weather permitting, will be completed by mid-November.

To be completed in four phases, the first phase of the project will focus on the stretch from Dobbin Road at MD 175 to Columbia Crossing Circle. This phase will include the installation of approximately 1,050 feet of 10-foot-wide asphalt pathway, lighting improvements, a pedestrian crossing upgrade at the Dobbin Road/Columbia Crossing Circle intersection and tree replacement.

Signs will be posted and flagging operations will be in place as temporary lane closures of the right northbound lane along Dobbin Road between MD 175 to Columbia Crossing Circle can be expected during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The additional three phases, two of which are located south of MD 175 and currently in the design phase, will be installed at a later date. Once completed, the pathway will provide safer bike and pedestrian access to the Columbia Crossing shopping center.
