Last night, Phish closed out their two-night run at Credit One Stadium in Charleston, S.C. The band kicked off the show with a rare cover of the Velvet Underground’s 1970 track, “Cool It Down,” and closed the first set with an infrequent, “Divided Sky.” The second set featured a top self “Simple” and repeated returns to elements of “Prince Caspian,” as well as a double bust-out encore.

Following an exceptional take on the Lou Reed penned “Cool It Down” – which marked the 11th live performance of the song by the band since it debuted on Halloween 1998 – they served up the complex number “Foam” ahead of “Knuckle Bone Broth Avenue,” which featured a Mike Fishman-led tease of “Do You Feel Like We Do” before “Dirt.”

Mike Gordon dominated on “555,” which segued into “Gumbo,” “Backwards Down the Number Line,” and ultimately, “The Wedge,” to close out an epic jam segment. Then, “About to Run” came before the first set closer, a rare live performance of “Divided Sky,” which was capped with a monumental light display by Chris Kuroda.

Set two got underway with fan favorite, “Wilson,” which bled into “Simple,” clocking in at over 23-minutes. Next, the band performed a jammed-out take on “Prince Caspian” that segued into “Egg in a Hole,” followed by a subsequent return to “Caspian.” The latter bled into “Piper,” which saw robust instrumental arrangements and a tease of “Guy Forgot.”

Anastasio explorative “Loney Trip” dripped into “Back on the Train” before a Page McConnell lead on “Most Events Aren’t Planned.” For Phish’s second set-ender, they landed on “Blaze On.” Then, for their encore, the band dusted off the eighth-ever performance of “Nothing” since it debuted in 2004. The last time the tune was played was Jan. 15, 2017, in Rivera Maya, Mexico. A tender rendition of “When the Circus Comes” segued into a bust out of “The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony.” The last song of the night was “Suzy Greenberg.”

Next on the docket, Phish travels to Noblesville, Ind., for a three-night sweep at Ruoff Music Center, beginning on June 3. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.
